Dread Pirate Roberts
As always, k did not come to dinner empty-handed. She arrived carrying a bag filled with the beads you see in the photo. They look like props from Pirates of the Carribbean.
These are glass and brass beads from Ghana. The brass beads are made using the lost wax method and the glass beads are made by magic.
I don't know just what I'll do with them yet, except spend a lot of time drooling over them.

The brass beads actually come from Cote-d'Ivoire, amazing that I found that out whilst looking for souvenirs in South Africa and all I could find was stuff from Ghana and... I was informed, the Ivory Coast.
... and from the People's Republic no doubt.
d, I love the way you wait until I leave the country before you disagree with me.
Now, now, chaps. Save the fighting for when you're happily ensconced in the same house again.
not disagreeing dear, just improving on the truth.
Wow, real live magic? Lucky you.
I love things like that---Collections that have a Purpose not Determined yet!!! Beautiful. Thanks for the advice. Friends Getting Married---so tough.....
