I had a Voss water bottle.

I had some glass beads what k. had brung me back from Effrika.

I had a whole heap of sea glass lovingly collected from the shores of CY O'Connor beach.

I had a banging door that required, if you will, a final solution. Voila and voici!

Stringing Them Along

Remember these beads? I've started beading them. (But only in between working on that pesky list of things-for-other-people.) I'm not quite sure that what I've got in mind will work. We'll see. If you stay tuned here, you'll see too!

Eventually.

In the meantime...

I went through my stash looking for all the pink, orange and clear beads that I had. I came up with this mix:

I have plans for a rather flamboyant necklace. But it could require another trip to the bead shop for a top-up. Oh woe.

And last night while Grumpy made dinner I got a long overdue framing project done:

The drawers are done and I'm making good progress through my list. I could be ready to start doing stuff for me in 2008!

My Pretties

Last year my friend Scarab came back from a trip to London with a lovely, would you believe, scarab beetle necklace she'd picked up at the British Museum. I admired it greatly. When she went back this year (for hers is a most unfortunate life) she had a look round for them but couldn't find any. A few weeks ago she was wandering around the Subiaco markets and lo and behold:

I love 'em! But I'll have to put some thought into what I'll do with them. It has to be something really good. I'll let you know when I've figured it out...

Dread Pirate Roberts

As always, k did not come to dinner empty-handed. She arrived carrying a bag filled with the beads you see in the photo. They look like props from Pirates of the Carribbean.

These are glass and brass beads from Ghana. The brass beads are made using the lost wax method and the glass beads are made by magic.

I don't know just what I'll do with them yet, except spend a lot of time drooling over them.

A Blog Needs Content

Naturellement.

I spent Friday morning with my friend, Scarab. She is my partner-in-beading. After fiddling with bits and pieces for weeks on end (I'm a slow worker to say the least), I was beginning to wonder if I'd get round to finishing anything. But yesterday I finally managed to produce these two necklaces. I'm happy with them. For now.
